Hammond's proposal is wrong

Commissioner Mike Hammond wants to add another 1/2 cent to the local sales tax to relieve the county's financial woes. Sales tax is the most regressive of taxes, hitting those who can least afford it the hardest. Sales tax revenues are also difficult to project, especially in recessionary times.

I suppose the commissioner's proposal will be a big hit, however, among those with six-figure incomes and homes to match who dread the idea of a property tax increase.

Yup, they'll love this proposal in Farragut.

Terrible, terrible idea. I'll remember it when Hammond runs for Mayor.

It is a head fake. Just to burn up time so no cuts will be made. Hammond is the worst Ragsdale accomplice.
